MEDIA:Sun Sports (cable), 970 WFLA (Radio)
OPPONENT COVERAGE: Lighthouse Hockey

Evan Oberg has been Tampa Bay Lightning property for all of four days, since his acquisition from the Florida Panthers on December 2nd. He’s played all of one game with the Norfolk Admirals.

And now he’s making his season debut and Lightning debut.

Oberg was recalled this afternoon from Norfolk of the AHL as one of the Lightning’s six healthy defensemen are injured and may not play tonight in Uniondale. It’s unclear right now just who that is who he will possibly be replacing in the lineup.

Speaking of tonight’s lineup, the Bolts will put forward Adam Hall back into the lineup after having him sit the last two games. Head Coach Guy Boucher had wanted to try to spark the offense by taking out the blue-collar Hall .. The usual suspects were on the score sheet with Hall out, so things weren’t much improved.

Matthieu Garon will be starting in goal for the Lightning.

Michael Grabner is out for the Islanders, and Al Montoya is the starting netminder tonight, or so says the Lighthouse Hockey preview.

….And here’s where I run out of words. It’s really tough to muster enthusiasm when the team has lost four straight (including the past three by the same exact score — 4-2), and six of its past eight games. The back-to-back victories against the Panthers look to be an aberration, not the start of redemption.

The one major milestone to keep an eye out for tonight is Martin St. Louis‘ 800th career point. With his goal last night, he reached 799.
