Lightning reveal Stadium Series jersey….yeah

2025_11_19_NHL_Stadium Series_Lightning

For the second time in their existence, the Tampa Bay Lightning are taking the game outside as they are set to play the Boston Bruins under the lights of Raymond James Stadium on February 1, 2026. Today, they revealed what they’ll be wearing.

Just in time for the holidays!

Look, y’all know us. We’re the sunshine and rainbows section of the Lightning world. We don’t like to dwell in negativity, but something about this design is just…off.

Fashion is subjective though , right? Is this our cup of tea, maybe not, but we’re sure some folks like it. We really dig the color scheme, but that primary logo is just…well…underwhelming. There was so much potential to think outside of the box and they went with just three initials. Heck, even if they had just done “BOLTS” it would have been better. Honestly, if they had rolled out the fake third jersey from 2014, that would have been wonderfully self-referencing.

There was a small part of our brain that was hoping they would have completely altered things and gone with a creamsicle/pirate theme, but alas. Perhaps the intricacies of NHL logos and uniforms got in the way of originality.

As is usual with these one-off uniforms, there are some details that allude to the franchise. The script of the initials hearkens back to the 2022 outdoor game in Nashville.

The tattered battle flag? That would have been pretty sweet asa primary logo.

So, are we going to buy one? Ehhh. Maybe. After all, how many different jerseys have we had to choose from over the last couple of years? Also, there is the chance that these look better in person/in action. Every new design the Lightning (or any franchise for that matter) have released has had its detractors. That’s part of the fun of new designs!

So if you like it or not that’s cool. In the end, we can all enjoy the fact that the Lightning are going to be front and center for the league on a (hopefully) chilly night in February. By the time the game rolls around, who really cares what they’re wearing. It will all be about the spectacle of playing under the lights. Outdoor hockey in the Sunshine State. Who would have ever thought?
