After spending a year in Toronto, Stanley Cup Champion Zach Bogosian has returned to the Tampa Bay Lightning on a three-year contract with an interesting AAV – $850k. Bogo took less money to return to Tampa, and the terms suggests he would like to settle down here with his young family as he starts his age-31 season.

Bogosian joined the Lightning at the trade deadline after having his contract terminated in Buffalo. He then went into the bubble with the Bolts and won the 2020 Stanley Cup, as you well know. Following the win he received a nice to go to the Maple Leafs on a one-year deal, where he put up good results in a third pair and penalty killing role. The Leafs wanted him back, among other teams, but he decided to come back to Tampa.
Welcome back, Bogo!
Looking at the cap, the Lightning have so far followed the blueprint I had laid out in my article from this morning projecting the team’s roster for next year. They’ve gone cheap in net and cheap on depth defense. The only big unknown is what the third line will look like. The team still has a few million dollars left to fill the two spots next to Mathieu Joseph.
BOGO’S BACK!!
We have signed defenseman Zach Bogosian to a three-year contract worth $850,000 AAV.
