Tampa Bay Lightning Game 60: at the New York Islanders

The Tampa Bay Lightning lost to the New York Islanders in regulation 5-4.

I’m going to keep this short and sweet. Not only did the Lightning lose their second game in a row, the most telling statistics in both of those losses are these:

  • The Bolts have scored eight goals in two games. They’ve four goals scored in each game, and have lost them both. Generally speaking, you should be able to win a game if you can score four goals.
  • But on the flip side of that – the Bolts have allowed ten goals in two games, nine of those going past Antero Niittymaki. I’m not saying that it is (or isn’t) Niittymaki’s fault, but the fact of the matter is that he was the guy in net.

It’s something to think about, isn’t it?

The next game is Sunday, 14 February, against the New York Rangers. Game time is 1 pm Eastern. It is the last Lightning game before the Olympic break. Afternoon games aren’t always the best for Tampa Bay, so watch at your own risk.
