Tampa Bay Lightning invoked – twice – in “30 Thoughts” rumors

In Elliotte Friedman’s latest “30 Thoughts” column regarding a wide variety of topics in the NHL and hockey, twice are the Tampa Bay Lightning invoked regarding trade rumors and specific players…. and defense isn’t where both are situated.

Friedman actually wasn’t certain about things but while talking about how teams had inquired with the Calgary Flames about left wing Curtis Glencross, he mentioned the Bolts as having possibly been among inquirers.

The fixation in speculation by Lightning fans and media has been on the blue line, and Friedman does later invoke the Bolts as having scoped Arizona Coyotes defenseman Zbynek Michalek (though GM Steve Yzerman is not keen on rentals), it’s the possibility of the Glencross inquiry that should be a wake-up call to fans; it’s trade season and don’t lock on to the one thing you think the team needs because that’s not necessarily all that management thinks the team needs.
