It’s not a uniform. Nor is it an announcement as to when tickets will go on sale, but at least it’s something. On Tuesday, the Tampa Bay Lightning and the NHL released the official game logo for the 2026 Navy Federal Credit Union NHL Stadium Series game between the Lightning and the Boston Bruins.

As expected, the logo leans into Tampa’s pirate history. The red “x” on the treasure map in the background lands squarely on what appears to be Weedon Island Preserve, which is an interesting choice. The lightning bolts in the sail are a nice touch, though. The logo is going to look great on a puck, or a t-shirt, or a shoulder patch (all which should be available at some point).

The league is branding the game as the capstone to “a month-long celebration of hockey in the Sunshine State”. Things kick off in Miami on January 2 with the Florida Panthers hosting the New York Rangers (their logo is much more palm tree-themed]. The Lightning and the Bruins meet up roughly a month later on February 1 at Raymond James Stadium. Ticket information will be released sometime in the near future.

Top 25 Under 25 voting continues [Raw Charge]

We’re into Day 3 of the voting. Anthony Cirelli has the distinction of being named the third best prospect under 25 the most times as he finished with the bronze medal in 2019 and 2020. He first made the list in 2017 with Tom Hunter writing,

“While he’s a creative offensive player, it’s Cirelli’s all-around game that will get him to the NHL. He is a three-zone player that a coaching shouldn’t be afraid to play in any situation and thrives when going up against the opposition’s top players.”

He wasn’t wrong.

The response has been solid so far, but the more votes/ranking that we get, the better idea we have of who you, the fans, think are the best prospects in the system. Remember to keep letting folks know about it. You have until Friday to get your rankings in!

So many glue sticks and so much patience.

Sleep optimization over hanging out at a bar [The Athletic]

The days of teams crashing a bar after a game are way behind us these days. It’s a nice little lesson on how alcohol metabolizes in your system and why you feel a little groggy after a night of drinking, even if you get a solid 8 hours of sleep. It’s not really a shock that today’s athlete, with their dedication to training and fitness, isn’t into consuming empty calories late into the night.

Utah Mammoth file lawsuit over name dispute [Salt Lake Tribune]

The NHL franchise is taking Mammoth Hockey, LLC, a manufacturer of “high-end hockey hockey bags” to court to settle a trademark/logo dispute. After initially supporting the selection of the mascot, the bag makers seem to have flipped, threatening litigation at some unspecified time in the future due to the chance that “consumers will confuse the two marks, risking our client’s business and operations. Hockey enthusiasts who pledge support for a team other than Utah Mammoth will not purchase goods from our client due to the consumer’s mistaken belief that such a purchase would support a rival team”.

In order to seek resolution, the ownership group of the Utah Mammoth are asking the courts to settle the trademark issue once and for all.
