On Saturday night, Andrei Vasilevskiy took over the Tampa Bay Lightning franchise record for shut outs. Besides Vasilevskiy’s feat, there are a few more Lightning franchise records that are poised to fall. Some could very well fall this week and others might fall by the end of the season.

Franchise Lead for Goals

It was only a matter of time before the best shooter of his generation pushed for the franchise record in goals. Steven Stamkos is just three short of tying Vincent Lecavalier’s 383 career goals with the Lightning. Stamkos has had a hot stick over the past 11 games netting eight goals. It’s just a matter of games before we’re celebrating his accomplishment of surpassing Lecavalier for the lead.

Franchise Lead for Saves and Shots Against

So, maybe this isn’t the most exciting stat to take the franchise lead for, but, it is a lead. Vasilevskiy needs to face 438 more shots and make 410 more saves to surpass Ben Bishop in both categories. If you take a rough average of about 30 shots per game, that means that we’re looking at some where around 14-15 games before Vasilevskiy breaks both records.

Franchise Lead for Goalie Assists/Points

Ok, this one is harder to predict when it will happen. Vasilevskiy has picked up two assists this season and each of the previous two seasons. His six assists sits just one behind Ben Bishop and Nikolai Khabibulin who both have seven assists for the franchise lead among goalies.

Season Record for Points and Assists

Nikita Kucherov has been on a tear this season. He surpassed Martin St. Louis’ 2010-11 season last season with 100 points for the third most all-time in a season. His 2018-19 season is already the 7th most points in a season by a Lightning skater. He’s chasing down Lecvalier’s 108 points from 2006-07 and it seems highly likely that he will pass that number.

Additionally, he’s chasing down Brad Richards and St. Louis’ records for assists in a season of 68. He currently sits at 67 assists. It’s highly likely that this week he will break that record.

Season Record for Short Handed Goals

This one still seems unlikely to be broken this year, but at least there’s a chance. Anthony Cirelli has found a magic touch while shorthanded for scoring goals. He has posted four on the season which ties him for 5th most in a season for the Lightning. St. Louis and Lecavalier had five each during the 2006-07 season. Tyler Johnson matched that number in 2013-14. St. Louis though holds the record with eight goals. Cirelli would need to double his current number to tie and that does seem unlikely. But getting into second place with a couple more isn’t that far out of reach for him.
