Tampa Bay Lightning sign Cal Foote to a entry level deal

Today, in what would be a cruel April Fools Day joke if that’s what it was, have announced that they have signed 2017 14th overall pick Cal Foote to a three year entry level contract. Foote’s season with the Kelowna Rockets ended with a surprising sweep at the hands of the Tri-City Americans in the first round of the Western Hockey League playoffs.

Foote has been a solid offensive defender for the Kelowna Rockets in the junior career, cracking a point per game pace this year for the first time.

Internationally, the son of Stanley Cup winner Adam Foote, won gold with Canada at the World Junior Championships in January. Foote will join the Syracuse Crunch for the remainder of the season and playoffs.

This fall he’ll have the chance to earn a spot on the Lightning blue line.
