Tampa Bay Lightning prospects report: Taylor Raddysh makes himself at home in the Soo

The Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds are currently on a 28-game point streak, and it doesn’t look like things will slow down, with Tampa Bay Lightning prospects Taylor Raddysh and Boris Katchouk combining for 15 points in three games last week.

FIFTEEN POINTS.

Out west Brett Howden had an impressive week as well for the Moose Jaw Warriors and Cal Foote put up big numbers in Kelowna. Let’s just get right to the highlights.

Ontario Hockey League

#12 – Christopher Paquette (F)
Peterborough Petes – 18-21-2-2

Jan. 11th: vs Guelph Storm

Jan. 13th: vs Ottawa 67’s
W 6-2 – 2G, 0A, -1

Jan. 14th: @ North Bay Battalion
L 4-3 SO – No Points

Paquette goes off for multi-goal games then goes right back to not scoring. It’s just his new thing this year.

#12 – Boris Katchouk (F) / #14 Taylor Raddysh (F)
2G, 4A, +4 / 4G, 5A, +5
Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds – 37-3-2-1

Jan. 10th: vs Saginaw Spirit
W 3-1 – 0G, 1A, +1 / 2G, 0A, +1

Jan. 12th: vs Owen Sound Attack
W 5-2 – 2G, 0A, +1 / 0G, 2A, +1

Jan. 13th: vs Mississauga Steelheads
W 7-4 – 0G, 3A, +2 / 2G, 3A, +3

The Greyhounds are…just wow.

#12 – Alexei Lipanov (F) – 1G, 0A, -3
Sudbury Wolves – 12-25-6-0

Jan. 11th: @ Barrie Colts

Jan. 12th: vs Mississauga Steelheads
L 6-3 – 1G, 0A, -2
Jan. 14th: vs Owen Sound Attack
W 2-1 – No Points

Lipanov got lit up in his first game against his former Barrie Colts. The Wolves won’t be a good place to grow for him, perhaps an off-season trade will help in case he’s back for an overage season.

Quebec Major Junior Hockey League

#89 – Otto Somppi (F) – 0G, 6A, +7
Halifax Mooseheads

Jan. 11th: vs Charlottetown Islanders
W 6-3 – 0G, 3A, +4

Jan. 12th: @ Charlottetown Islanders
W 3-2 OT – 0G, 2A, +2
Jan. 13th: @ Moncton Wildcats
W 4-3 OT – 0G, 1A, +1

Somppi went 2PPG for the Mooseheads as they won all three of their games to remain on top of the QMJHL standings.

Western Hockey League

#21 – Brett Howden (F) / #76 – Oleg Susonov (D)
4G, 4A, +9 / 0G, 2A, +4
Moose Jaw Warriors – 36-7-1-2

Jan. 10th: vs Calgary Hitmen
W 8-3 – Did Not Play / 0G, 1A, +2
Jan. 12th: vs Edmonton Oil Kings
W 8-2 – 3G, 2A, +6 / 0G, 0A, +1

Jan. 13th: @ Prince Albert Raiders
L 4-3 – Box Score unavailable
Jan. 14th: vs Medicine Hat Tigers
W 5-4 OT – 1G, 2A, +3 / 0G, 1A, +1

Neither Howden or Susonov scored in the Raiders game just to note, but I can’t get into the full stats. It was a great week regardless with two huge wins an a couple close games. Eight points for Howden was big big big as well.

#3 – Libor Hajek (D) – 0G, 0A, -1
Regina Pats – 23-19-4-0

Jan. 10th: vs Edmonton Oil Kings
L 4-3 OT – 0G, 0A, -1
Jan. 12th: vs Medicine Hat Tigers

Jan. 13th: vs Calgary Hitmen
W 8-2 – Did Not Play

Hajek played one game for his new team before they let him rest after the World Juniors.

#25 – Cal Foote (D) – 1G, 4A, +1
Kelowna Rockets – 27-13-2-1

Jan. 10th: @ Spokane Chiefs

Jan. 12th: @ Seattle Thunderbirds
W 6-2 – 0G, 3A, -1

Jan. 13th: @ Vancouver Giants
L 3-2 – No Points
The Rockets had two great games before a close loss, and Foote chipped in five points in those wins.

USHL

#19 – Cole Guttman (F) – Injured

The Saints put Guttman on IR. Hopefully he’ll be back later in the season.

Jan. 13th: vs Lincoln Stars
W 4-3 SO – 0G, 0A, -2
Jan. 14th: @ Waterloo Black Hawks
L 5-2 – 1G, 0A

Perbix had a good week and scored a goal even though the Lancers lost.

Jan. 12th: @ Arizona State

Jan. 13th: @ Arizona State
L 4-0 – 0G, 0A, -1

The Riverhawks came out of their trip to Arizona even at 4 goals for and 4 goals against.

#16 – Johnathan MacLeod (D) – 0G, 1A, +1
Boston U. Terriers
Overall: 9-11-2 / Conference: 7-7-2

Jan. 12th: @ New Hampshire
W 3-2 – 0G, 0A, -1
Jan. 13th: vs Providence
T 2-2 – 0G, 1A, +2

MacLeod got into both games this weekend, earning the trust of management back.

Minnesota can’t win in their own conference and that is going to be an issue coming to the end of the season.
