Tampa Bay Lightning prospects report: Taylor Raddysh and Cal Foote put up the points

It’s me, co-host of the Charged Up podcast [Wait, what? – Acha], back to tell you all about the wee Tampa Bay Lightning kiddos.

Taylor Raddysh put two past his old team in a four-point weekend, Chris Paquette sat around Peterborough hoping for a trip to Syracuse when the Petes season mercifully ends, and Alexey Lipanov pined for the cold dark winters of Russia during the Wolves’ limp towards the end of the OHL season.

Out east Otto Somppi was the king of Nova Scotia, and out west Cal Foote stepped up his game and got five points.

Sammy Walker played in a game that ended 20-0, and it’s really unfair that they played a bunch of pee-wee players. Here’s a clip of the action from Edina:

Ontario Hockey League

#12 – Christopher Paquette (F) – 1G, 0A, -2
Peterborough Petes – 18-27-3-3

Feb. 1st: vs Hamilton Bulldogs
L 4-3 – 0G, 1A, -1
Feb. 3rd: vs Oshawa Generals
L 8-2 – 0G, 0A, -1
Feb. 4th: @ Ottawa 67’s
L 5-3 – 1G, 0A

Paquette netted a goal but the Petes went 0-3 on the weekend and fell five points behind 8th place in the east.

#12 – Boris Katchouk (F) / #14 Taylor Raddysh (F)
0G, 3A, +2 / 4G, 1A, +3
Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds – 43-5-2-1

Jan. 31st: vs Sudbury Wolves
W 4-0 – 0G, 1A, +1 / 1G, 0A, +1
Feb. 2nd: vs Saginaw Spirit
W 4-3 OT – No Points / 1G, 1A, +1
Feb. 4th: vs Erie Otters
W 3-2 – 0G, 2A, +1 / 2G, 0A, +1

Raddysh scored two on his former team on Sunday, and broke away from Katchouk for one game on Friday night to put up two by himself.

#17 – Alexei Lipanov (F)
Sudbury Wolves – 13-32-6-0

Jan. 31st: @ Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds
L 4-0 – No Points
Feb. 2nd: vs Erie Otters
L 4-2 – 0G, 0A, -1

The Wolves lost as usual.

Quebec Major Junior Hockey League

#89 – Otto Somppi (F) – 0G, 2A, +1
Halifax Mooseheads – 33-12-5-1

Feb. 2nd: @ Moncton Wildcats
L 5-1 – 0G, 0A, -2
Feb. 3rd: vs Acadie-Bathurst Titan
W 3-1 – 0G, 2A, +3

Somppi’s great game against the Titan is overshadowed by the blowout loss to the Wildcats. It shouldn’t but that’s just how hockey thinks, right? He’ll be fine and the team is still second overall. Onwards!

Western Hockey League

#21 – Brett Howden (F) / #76 – Oleg Susonov (D)
0G, 2A, -1 / No Points
Moose Jaw Warriors – 40-9-1-2

Feb. 2nd: vs Red Deer Rebels
L 3-1 – 0G, 1A, -1 / 0G, 0A, -1
Feb. 3rd: vs Prince George Cougars
W 4-1 – 0G, 1A / 0G, 0A, +1

In a short weekend the Warriors went 1-1 with Howden setting up two goals, and Susonov playing like the rest of the defence – a minus in the loss a plus in the win.

#3 – Libor Hajek (D) – No Points
Regina Pats – 27-22-5-0

Jan. 31st: vs Prince George Cougars
W 4-1 – 0G, 0A, +1
Feb. 3rd: vs Prince Albert Raiders
W 5-4 OT – 0G, 0A, -1

The Pats won two in a row, excellent for them right now.

#25 – Cal Foote (D) – 3G, 2A, +4
Kelowna Rockets – 32-16-3-1

Jan. 30th: vs Medicine Hat Tigers
W 5-2 – 1G, 2A, +2

Feb. 2nd: vs Everett Silvertips
L 3-2 – 0G, 0A, +1
Feb. 3rd: @ Everett Silvertips
L 8-2 – 2G, 0A, +1

Cal Foote is the best player on the Rockets right now, the defender was the only goal scorer in an 8-2 loss.

USHL

Dubuque Fighting Saints

Guttman is on IR for the foreseeable future.

#14 – Nicklaus Perbix (D) – 0G, 2A, +4

Feb. 2nd: vs Central Illinois Flying Aces
W 8-1 – 0G, 0A, +1
Feb. 3rd: vs Central Illinois Flying Aces
W 4-2 – 0G, 2A, +3

Perbix had a huge game on Saturday chipping in two assists, and helping the Saints dominate the Aces.

High School

#26 – Samuel Walker – 2G, 3A
Edina High School – 21-1-0

Jan. 30th: vs Centennial
W 3-2 – 1G, 0A
Feb. 1st: @ Wayzata
W 3-1 – No Points
Feb. 3rd: vs Hopkins
W 20-0 – 1G, 3A

Walker had a rare pointless game in the first but made up for it on Saturday by notching four points in a 20-0 win. Hopkins had 13 shots total. Just crazy.
