Tampa Bay prepping against the mumps and no Radko Gudas return tonight

The pregame notes from Bryan Burns with the Lightning touch on the subject of mumps, especially with another Pittsburgh player having shown symptoms of the virus. Playing against a team that has one clearly contracted case in Sidney Crosby, Lightning fans might be curious if and what the Bolts could do the ward off the disease.

This may not prevent it from happen but the Lightning have acted in a medical fashion already:

[Head coach Jon] Cooper said approximately a month ago, everybody on the Lightning had blood work done to see who had antibodies in their system and booster shots were administered to those who needed it.

That’s not going to prevent things, and more in Burns’ notes say just that (quotes form Cooper and Steven Stamkos), the team has acted though.

Defenseman Radko Gudas, who was waylaid with a stomach bug the past few days, participated in the morning skate at CONSOL Energy Center, but he will not play tonight against the Penguins. He could be back against the Flyers tomorrow, but that will be Cooper’s call in the end.

Ondrej Palat didn’t even participate in this morning’s skate. his ambiguous lower-body injury lingers.
