The State of the Blog Address – 2025 Summer Edition

Hey, folks. How’s it going? It’s your old friendly neighborhood managing editor, Justin G. Sorry, things have been a little quiet around these parts, but with the off-season in full effect, and the Lightning being their usual boring selves, I figured it was a good time to take a little time off to decompress. That time is over (even if I’m heading out west for a vacation) so we’re getting back to posting on a regular basis.

First off, we’ll kick off the Top 25 Under 25 countdown for this year. The votes have all been tallied and we have some new names on the list this year. Are the top two a surprise? Probably not, but there were some interesting picks along the way. Look for the first profiles to drop this week, and continue through early September. At which time we’ll have actual Lightning new to report!

As for some more personal details. For the first time since I joined this website as some idiot writing about Steven Stamkos, I will actually be living in the same area as the team. In October, The Wife and I are relocating to the Tampa Bay area. So, what does that mean for the site? Well, probably not much really (other than a much shorter commute to the Stadium Series game in February). I’ll have to sort out an actual job situation first, and then see how we can grow the site from there. If that means applying for credentials, and being able to cover games like we used to, then we’ll do it.

One thing I would like to do for the upcoming season is to get more voices on the site. We ran a trial run with a Fan Post a couple of months ago and it seemed to be well received. So, we’ll probably be doing more of that moving forward. So, If you’ve ever felt the need to vent about the team, but the comment field isn’t long enough for you, keep an eye out for when that is announced.

Other than that, I’m personally looking forward to what could be a franchise-defining season for the Lightning. As much as they frustrate us, they are still one of the best teams in the Eastern Conference. But, they are a squad composed of aging stars in a division featuring a lot of teams with up-and-coming talent. Unlike the last few years, the defining line between the top three teams in the Atlantic and everyone else is going to be blurry. It’s going to be a fight not just for the top of the division, but also to make the playoffs. So, that should be fun!

A big THANK YOU to everyone that spins by this spot to read what we put out. To all those that comment, thank you as well. Here’s to a fun and exciting 2025-26 season.
