Following some final moves on Monday (Max Crozier re-assigned to Syracuse and Logan Brown released from his PTO) the Tampa Bay Lightning have officially set their season-opening roster prior to the 5:00 PM EST deadline. Now, please be advised that what they turn into the league today might not be the same as to what they have on the ice Friday in Carolina as they open the season against the ‘Canes.

According to PuckPedia, the Lightning will start the season with 22 players on the roster and $618,334 in cap space. For the first time since the 2019-20 season, the Lightning will not start the year with players on LTIR, thus allowing them to bank cap space for the season. We’re in uncharted waters here, folks! No cap maneuvers in order to get the maximum benefit of LTIR or trades for perpetually injured players (thanks for the cap relief Marian Gaborik, Anders Nilsson, and Brent Seabrook – your days as members of the Lightning will always be remembered).

Without further adieu, here are your 2024-25 Lightning players with their cap hits and how they were acquired by the organization.

Goaltenders (2)

Andrei Vasilevskiy ($9,500,000) – Drafted 2012 – First Round

J.J. Moser ($3,375,000) – Acquired in a trade 2024

Nick Perbix ($1,125,000) – Drafted 2017 – Sixth Round

Darren Raddysh ($975,000) – Signed as a free agent in 2021

Emil Lilleberg ($870,000) – Signed as a free agent in 2023

Offense

Nikita Kucherov ($9,500,000) – Drafted 2011 – Second Round

Brayden Point ($9,500,000) – Drafted 2014 – Third Round

Jake Guentzel ($9,000,000) – Technically acquired in a trade in 2024, but basically a free agent signing

Brandon Hagel ($6,500,000) – Acquired in a trade in 2022

Anthony Cirelli ($6,250,000) – Drafted 2015 – Third Round

Nick Paul ($3,150,000) – Acquired in a trade in 2022

Conor Sheary ($2,000,000) – Signed as a free agent in 2023

Cam Atkinson ($900,000) – Signed as a free agent in 2024

Conor Geekie ($866,666) – Acquired in a trade in 2024

Zemgus Girgensons ($850,000) – Signed as a free agent in 2024

Luke Glendening ($800,000) – Signed as a free agent in 2023

Mikey Eyssimont ($800,000) – Acquired in a trade in 2023

Mitchell Chaffee ($800,000) – Signed as a free agent in 2023

Some Notes:

  • Victor Hedman is now your longest tenured Bolt followed by Nikita Kucherov.
  • Girgensons and Atkinson are your newest Lightning members.
  • Conor Geekie (20) is the youngest while Glendening is the oldest (35).
  • The Lightning have three players born in the 1980s (Atkinson, McDonagh, Glendening), 16 in the 1990s, and three (Geekie, Moser, and Lilleberg) born in the 2000s.
  • Eight players were born in the US, six in Canada, two in Sweden, two in Russia, one in Latvia (Girgensons), one in Slovakia (Cernak), one in Norway (Lilleberg), and one in Switzerland (Moser).
  • Six players were drafted by the team. Eight players were signed as free agents and eight were acquired via trades.

Again, there could be some roster moves over the next few days, but as far as the NHL is concerned, this is how the Lightning will start the season.
