YouTube Tuesday: Vasilevskiy denies the backdoor attempt

Andrei Vasilevskiy took on the New Jersey Devils in his season debut. The game got off to a bit of a rough start for Tampa and Vasilevskiy as he was victimized by two deflection goals in the first period. There was nothing he could do on either goal, but the rest of the game he was spectacular. He battled hard to keep the Devils at two goals and did that through the entire game.

After the first goal was scored, he had this amazing save. Valtteri Filppula gave the puck up in the neutral zone. Former Bolt (technically) Kyle Quincey intercepted the puck and moved into the zone. He tried to feed Beau Bennett who was streaking in to the back post for a tap in but Vasilevskiy stretched out to make the save.

By the way, I say technically a former Bolt as Kyle Quincey was acquired from the Colorado Avalanche for Steve Downie and then immediately traded to the Detroit Red Wings for a first round pick. That first round pick was then used to draft one Andrei Vasilevskiy.

Now, enjoy the beauty of this save from Vasy!
