Yzerman: Stamkos out of surgery, expected to make a full recovery

Quick update from Twitter and Nick Cotsonika:

If the team releases an official update on Stamkos’ post-surgery status, we’ll have it here. This really is the only news we expected to hear about Steven today anyway — successful surgery.

Update 6:35 PM EST – A brief release was sent out from the club mirroring what has been said above:

Tampa Bay Lightning center Steven Stamkos underwent successful surgery this afternoon in Boston to stabilize a fracture in his right tibia. He is expected to return to Tampa on Thursday to begin rehabilitation immediately, the team announced. A prospective timetable has not yet been set for his return to the ice.
