2015 NHL Playoffs: The (canceled) schedule conflict

It was an innocent conversation between myself and community member Matt Amos tonight. Innocent but of a hockey subject matter, a playoff subject matter, a Lightning subject matter: Just what is the event that is conflicting with the Lightning / Canadiens schedule that resulted in the back-to-back games tomorrow and Thursday instead of the every-other-day format continuing per usual?

The answer is the Nitro Circus… And the news attached to the event will not be very pleasant for Lightning, Canadiens or NHL fans:

Nitro CircusLive regrets to announce that due to unforeseen circumstances related to our television production, the Tuesday, May 5, 2015 show in Tampa, FL at AMALIE Arena has been cancelled. Nitro Circus Live apologizes to all their fans, the Tampa Bay Lightning organization, its fans and the NHL for any inconvenience due to the last minute nature of this cancellation.

The Lightning advancing in the playoffs and this schedule conflict had created potential broadcast TV conflicts in the playoffs that are playing out over the next 72 hours. The more direct result is just the aggravation that Montreal fans and Tampa Bay fans (as well as idle NHL fans who are following the series) are suffering.

The series resumes tomorrow but by all means, we should be playing tonight.
