Benoit Pouliot Signs 1-Year Deal With Lightning

(SB Nation) — On Sunday, the Tampa Bay Lightning came to terms on a one-year contract worth $1.8 million with unrestricted free agent Benoit Pouliot. The deal comes exactly one year to the day that the 25-year-old winger signed a one-year deal worth $1.1 million with the Boston Bruins last July 1. RDS reported the news.

Tampa Bay had an interest in the gritty winger as they traded forward Michael Ouellet and a fifth-round draft selection in the 2012 draft to the Boston Bruins on June 23 in order to acquire the exclusive negotiation rights with Pouliot.

Pouliot played in 74 games in the 2011-12 season recording 16 goals and 16 assists for a total of 32 points.

A former No. 4 overall selection by the Minnesota Wild in the 2004 Entry Draft, Tampa Bay will be Pouliot’s fourth stop in the NHL after short stints with the Wild, Bruins and Montreal Canadiens.
