Jonathan Drouin got the same stomach ailment that affected Radko Gudas and Tyler Johnson in the past two weeks. The bug kept Drouin out of Saturday’s win over the Carolina Hurricanes and pretty much did a number on Drouin’s mother in the process:
“My mom was freaking out a little bit, ‘You have the mumps?” Drouin said with a smile. “I’m like, ‘No.’ It’s nice that it wasn’t the mumps and I’m ready to play.”
The quote’s amusing but it’s also a reminder Drouin is all of 19 years of age and living life a long way away from home. At the same time, I think we (as fans) were all a little freaked out Jonathan had the mumps, especially when reports of illness from local media were inconsistent. Never the less, Drouin was back at practice this morning and while he will be a game-time decision, he’s likely to play.
