Lightning demote two to Norfolk

The Lightning announced via press-release this afternoon that defenseman Mathieu Roy and center Blair Jones were optioned back to the Norfolk Admirals of the AHL. Roy and Jones had been recalled with thanks to a (still heavily) banged up Lightning roster that included LW Simon Gagne (who was placed on injured reserve) and center Dominic Moore who has been kept out of action with an undisclosed injury. He has not played since October 24th versus Nashville.

Simon Gagne has been on injured reserve retroactive to October 21st with a neck injury that has kept him both out o practice adn out of action since the overtime loss to the New York Islanders. He’s been eligible to return from IR since October 29th.

More likely, however, is Matt Smaby bieng able to return to full time duty for the Lightning after health issues over the past few days.

The Bolts do not play again until Tuesday against the Toronto Maple Leafs.
