Happy Halloween!

The Lightning lost in overtime to the Seattle Kraken last night. They made a good game of it, but continued their struggles in overtime, losing while shorthanded. It seems fitting they played Gourde the night before Halloween.

Here’s some highlights with the radio broadcast for y’all.

Before the game, the Bolts showed off their costumes. Big fan of ABB The Pizza Guy. I bet his crusts have a good Crunch to ’em 😉

Looking good Thunder Alley!

JJ got second star of the week honors for his back-to-back shutouts.

Turning to a less optimistic topic – injuries.

After the tragic death of Adam Johnson, the EIHL are making neck guards mandatory for all players. This comes along with a growing recognition among all hockey players all over the world for the need to “protect your neck”, as they say. I hope the NHL adopts this rule soon (it’s not a question of if, but when), especially since there is a push coming from AHL players on Johnson’s former teams and organizations running youth hockey.

It was a brutal game between Boston and Florida last night, with these two hits happening back to back.

19-year-old QMJHLer Lane Hinkley is retiring from hockey after an MRI showed he is at risk for CTE and early dementia following “too many hits, too many punches, too many concussions that I didn’t properly heal from.”

A FHF Roundtable discussed the shadowy process that was Shane Pinto’s gambling suspension. We’re back to the 60s with back room deals running the sport in the NHL.
