Lightning Round: Ducks defense is one to watch
Tampa Bay Lightning prospect and Syracuse Crunch forward Simon Ryfors has signed a long term contract with Rogle of the SHL. The undrafted Ryfors was at the end of his two-year ELC where he played two full seasons for the Crunch (144 games) and scored 94 points, but didn't get a shot with the big club once. The 25-year-old finished second on the Crunch in scoring this year.
Personally, the "one last ride" for the schoolbus line hurt the Lightning's chances to give a lot of deserving Crunch players the opportunity to see what they can do with the big club.

JBB joined Block Party for their season finale to recap the year and get the thoughts of the GM. Wolf definitely sounded eulogistic at the beginning. JBB spoke highly of Darren Raddysh.

Okay, so the Anaheim Ducks know how to draft defensemen. Their prospects have won the Defenseman of the Year awards in the WHL, OHL, and QMJHL. Together, Olen Zellweger (2021 #34OA), Pavel Mintyukov (2022 #10OA), and Tristan Luneau (2022 #53OA) combined for 253 points this year. As you can tell, none of these prospects are overagers.
Woof. Now I'm glad they don't have Bedard.

After a contentious and very public back and forth between the AHL, the teams, and the NHL, Scott Howson has officially been extended as President and CEO of the league.

NHL Playoffs
Carolina Hurricanes 6-1 over New Jersey Devils
CAR leads 3-1
No game in this series has been close (frankly, neither were the games in the first round for these two teams). Alas, the Hurricanes now have a commanding lead over the Devils.
Dallas Stars 6-3 over Seattle Kraken
Series tied 2-2
The Stars came out to a big 4-0 lead midway through the second period, but the Kraken fought back to make it close, but it wasn't enough as the Stars tied the series. It's a best of three starting Thursday.
Here are the nominees for the Bill Masterson award. I think it'll be down to Letang – who overcame his second stroke in his life this year and was able to return to the ice – and Stalock – who lost all of the 2021-22 season due to developing a heart condition from COVID-19.
Your 2023 Bill Masterton nominees, as voted by the @PHWA: Keller (ARIZ), Letang (PIT) & Stalock (CHI).

Gabriel "Babe" Landeskog will miss the entirety of the 2023-24 season after getting surgery on his right knee. Hopefully he makes a full recovery and can return to the Avalanche in 2024.
Colorado Avalanche captain Gabriel Landeskog will undergo a cartilage transplant in his right knee on May 10. The surgery will be performed by Dr. Brian Cole at the Rush University Medical Center in Chicago. The 30-year-old forward is expected to miss the entire 2023-24 season. pic.twitter.com/bM466EpL3G

Here's a dive into the Seattle Kraken's strong forward depth and how it allowed them to make a lot of hay in as the eighth seed.
