Lightning Round: Finding 16 Recaps for 16 Games

Photo by Possessed Photography on Unsplash.

There was a full slate of 16 games, 32 teams last night in the NHL. All the games on Tuesday night were staggered, starting with a 6pm start in Washington all the way back to a 10:30pm start in Vegas. I couldn’t stay awake to see the ends of all the games, but I found recaps for almost all of them! It’s always good to be part of a wide network of hockey fans (The For Hockey Fans Network) where every team is covered every night.

TOR over WSH, 4-1
BUF over OTT, 6-4
TBL over CAR, 3-0
NJD over MTL, 5-2
DAL over PIT, 4-1
FLA over SJS, 3-1
COL over NYI, 7-4
SEA over DET, 5-4 OT
ANA over CBJ, 3-2 OT
BOS over CHI, 3-0
WPG over STL, 4-2
MIN over EDM, 7-4
VAN over NSH, 3-2
NYR over CGY, 3-1
ARI vs LAK, I couldn’t stay awake.
PHI vs VGK, I couldn’t stay awake.

The scores for the games I was asleep to see the ends of can be found here: https://www.nhl.com/scores/2023-10-24

JJ comes through again for the Lightning in a great night for him.

Here’s this week’s Crunch Wrap! It’s an encouraging start to the season for the Syracuse Crunch!

Lightning reporters Chris and Gabby are doing a podcast together. Give it a listen.

What’s happened to the Lightning in overtime? Do they need to make some adjustments, or are they just not as flashy as they used to be?

Bettman upheld the four-game suspension on Rasmus Andersson for his late high hit on Patrick Laine.

This was so awkward to watch. Down 5-1 heading into the third, Senators goalie Anton Forsberg went to the creases thinking he was staying in the net. Travis Hamonic had to go to him and tell him to go to the bench. The Senators still ended up losing the game, but moments like this aren’t forgotten.

LOL.

The logistics of “Chaos Week” in the NHL in late June and early July really got out of hand last summer, which is why there’s this push to decentralize the draft. Hear what GMs Holland, Lamoriello, and Sakic had to say about.

Travis Dermott killed the NHL’s Pride Tape ban that was shortsighted, callous, and cowardly to begin with.

The PWHL has a new logo. Can I say just hurry up and play games already? Waiting is just not as exciting.
