The NHL wants to make their Draft more like the NFL or NBA. My problem with that is no NHL prospects have the same profile as the NCAA stars who are often 6 or 7 years older than them and have been on national TV or state TV every weekend for years. I’m not sure how you can market a bunch of shrug emojis. It’s like Connor Bedard. No one’s seen him do anything, but all we’re hearing and seeing is “trust me, bro” which is fine for a while, but there’s no reputation or resume to get excited about. Once again the NHL thinks they can do on the surface what other, more popular leagues do and see the same success. I’m not sure about that.
