Tristan Jarry was the first star of the night in the league as he became the 13th goalie in league history (and first Penguin) to score a goal. Unfortunately, Lightning fans had a frontrow seat of that rare accomplishment as his goal was the dagger in a 4-2 loss for the Bolts.
That goal highlighted an interesting night around the league:
Mitch Marner had a hat trick in Toronto’s 4-3 win over Seattle
Connor Dewar had his first career hat trick in Minnesota’s 6-1 win over Nashville
Tom Wilson, who has been at this a lot longer than Dewar, also has his first hat trick in the Caps 5-4 win over the Ducks.
Edmonton won their fourth game in a row with a 3-1 victory over Winnipeg. After hitting rock bottom with a loss to San Jose, they are now just five points out of a wild card spot.
Connor Ingram picked up his third win in a row as the Coyotes beat the Avalanche 4-3 in overtime. He’s allowed 4 goals over those three games as Arizona clings to the second wild card spot in the west.

Trophy Tracker: Hart Trophy [NHL.com]
The folks over at NHL.com took a poll about possible trophy winners at the quarter mark of the season. For the league MVP they have Artemi Panarin in the lead. Nikita Kucherov was fifth in their voting with 26 points including one first place vote. If he keeps scoring at the pace he’s at, he should rocket up that list by the next time they take a look.

The Calgary Flames selloff has begun and it seems the Canucks are in this thing to win it. Nikita Zadorov had his trade wish fulfilled as the team traded him to the Vancouver Cancuks for a 2024 fifth-round pick and a 2026 third-round pick.

Would I have rioted if The Cutting Edge wasn’t on this list? No, but I would have left a strongly worded comment.

The Ducks were the feel-good story of the first month, but the wheels have kind of come off. The folks at AC break it down and provide some fantastic photos along the way.
