  • The Tampa Bay Lightning will be without Tyler Johnson after a devastating hit by Montreal Canadiens defenseman Greg Pateryn after a whistle during Saturday night’s season finale. • Jeff and Penny Vinik made a bold statement in support of community involvement yesterday when they announced the continuation of the Community Heroes program. Continuing for the next five years, the Vinik’s are pledging another $10 million to the program, which will nominate a “Community Hero” during each Lightning home game. [Tampa Bay Lightning]
  • With the 2016 NCAA Frozen Four having concluded on Sunday evening, the Tampa Bay Sports Commission has already said it will bid to bring the event back to the Bay in either 2020, 2021 of 2022. [BC Interruption]
  • Karl Goehring, goaltending coach for the University of North Dakota, came full circle when his team won its first national championship since 2006. Not to mention, he has deep ties to the history of the Syracuse Crunch. [Sports Talk Florida]
  • The Washington Capitals have seen just how integral Braden Holtby has been to their success over the course of the season. He proved that Saturday when he tied the single season record for wins, held by NHL legend Martin Brodeur. [Russian Machine Never Breaks]
  • The Columbus Blue Jackets didn’t quite have the same success this season. As the season draws to a close, they want to put this season behind them and look forward to future years with John Tortorella behind the bench. [The Dark Blue Jacket]
  • And the Edmonton Oilers will be looking forward to rebuilding (again) this offseason. Down Goes Brown gave them some help:

  • The NHL will be losing one familiar face at the end of the playoffs. After rumors swirled about Detroit Red Wings veteran Pavel Datsyuk’s desire to leave the NHL at the end of the season, he finally confirmed it to the Detroit Free Press. [CBS Sports]
