Quick Strikes for Monday, October 27

  • Erik Erlendsson had an interesting idea: goal songs for each player. The Lightning would be the first one to do it if it actually happened. [Tampa Tribune]
  • Scott Darling played in the SPHL. Yes, the league that the ECHL makes call-ups from. And he won a game in the NHL for the Chicago Blackhawks. [CBS Sports]
  • The Toronto Maple Leafs held a players-only meeting (already) after their 4-1 loss to the Bruins, in which they just looked bad. [TSN]
  • The San Jose Sharks lost to the Buffalo Sabres on Saturday night. It was the Sharks’ fourth consecutive loss. So, should they start panicking? [Working the Corners]
  • Dave Hodge gave the thumbs down to the Sharks for their performance against Buffalo. On the other hand, he made it a point to say the New York Islanders, however, have been doing fairly well this season. [TSN]
  • This is an interesting read about what it takes to keep the pucks in perfect playing condition throughout a game. [NHL Officials Association]
  • It was a wild one in Anaheim last night between the Sharks and theDucks, with 165 (!!) penalty minutes in the third period alone. Former Bolt Nate Thompson, now with the Ducks, was part of the trouble and was handed a game misconduct. [SB Nation]
