Quick Strikes: Tampa Bay Lightning announce prospect tournament roster
The Maple Leafs struck a lucrative deal with Scotiabank to name their rink in 2018-19.
The Bolts
Danis Zaripov appears to be moving from the KHL to the NHL. Would he be a fit in the Tampa Bay Lightning’s forward group? “With Zaripov wishing to prove himself, he could potentially sign for a contract in the $1 to $2 million range. It’s also possible that he would accept the low end of that range with the rest being made up for with performance bonuses.” [Raw Charge]
Day 2 of our series on Anton Stralman speaks about the Swedish defenders chronic lung issue. “Long story short, childhood asthma took a toll on Stralman’s lungs, giving him a condition called bronchiectasis, from scar tissue lodged in his airways that prevented him from getting rid of mucus.” [Raw Charge]

The NHL is a star-driven league and the Bolt’s success is a product of that. Steven Stamkos, Victor Hedman, and Nikita Kucherov were all ranked very highly in the NHL Networks lists of top players in the league right now. “Based on these rankings, it’s clear [these] players are capable of delivering MVP-type [performances] during the regular season and playoffs.” [Bolts By The Bay]
Ed Sheeran performed at the Lightning’s Castle on the Hill, also known as Amalie Arena.
Looking good in that ⚡️, @edsheeran.

The Prospects
The prospects of the Tampa Bay Lightning, Washington Capitals, Florida Panthers, and Nashville Predators will be playing each other in a small tournament on September 9-12 at Germain Arena in Estero, Florida. “The Lightning team consists of some of the organization's top prospects, including defensemen Mikhail Sergachev and Cal Foote, forwards Anthony Cirelli, Brett Howden, Mathieu Joseph, Taylor Raddysh and Mitchell Stephens, as well as goaltender Connor Ingram.” A full breakdown of rosters can be found here. The Game
The airline, Air Canada, has been paying MLSE $30 million every year for the rights to name the home of the Toronto Maple Leafs. But that will change after this season. The Leafs will now be getting $40 million per year from Scotiabank for the next 20 seasons, starting in July 2018. “It is believed to be the largest sponsorship of its kind in North America and represents an astronomical increase on the $30-million Air Canada paid for the original naming rights when the building opened in 1999.” [Sportsnet]
Breaking: The Air Canada Centre will be renamed Scotiabank Arena as of July 1st, 2018. New 20-year agreement between MLSE and Scotiabank.
