Carter Verhaeghe made his NHL debut on Thursday night. Geo adds some context on what we can expect from him during the season [Raw Charge]
Now, with the NHL season just beginning, the question becomes what to expect from him. We know he’s a smart player. He was able to take advantage of AHLers that didn’t have his hockey IQ and that assisted him in being elite offensively. His skating has also improved since joining the organization, making him faster and more agile. He’s got good hands and puck skills. He’s got a decent shot by NHL standards. He’s also got flexibility to play at center or wing as needed for the Lightning.
The Tampa Bay Lightning are popular not only among humans.

The Prospects
The Syracuse Crunch also played their opening game of the season but were defeated 3-2 by the Rochester Americans in overtime Check out Justin’s recap. [Raw Charge]
The game started as a bit of a track meet in the first period as both times rushed up and down the ice before settling into more of a punch, counterpunch affair for the final two thirds. Rochester did an excellent job bottling up the Crunch in the neutral zone for most of the game, and when Syracuse did manage to break through, goaltender Andrew Hammond made the save.
Danick Martel scored his first goal for the Crunch.

Brilliant work on who had the biggest drop in GAR last season.
No player saw a bigger drop in than year to year GAR than Derick Brassard last year.
