Quick Strikes: Tampa Bay Lightning prospects smash Nashville 6-1

The Bolts

Before the storm hit Florida, @iActium spoke with Sportsnet.ca writer, and Youtuber Steve Dangle about the Lightning, Maple Leafs, Habs, and the rest of the Atlantic Division. If you like laughing at the Canadiens, Red Wings, and Canucks this is the podcast for you! [Raw Charge]

We have set up an Open thread in the Quick Strike post from yesterday in case you would like to distract yourself from the storm, check-in so we know you are ok, and share any information you have regarding the storm. “Dear God! Not Dinosaur World!” [Raw Charge]

It is really amazing and inspiring to see how much Floridians have banded together during this storm. Hang in there, it’s almost over!

Praying for the best and everyone to be safe. Be nice, be kind and help one another through this. #irma

Glad to hear that the last of the Bolts players have evacuated. Can’t forget the dogs!

The Prospects

Slick snipe from Tampa Bay Lightning defensive prospect Libor Hajek. Hajek helped the Bolts stomp on the Nashville Predators, beating them by five goals. “The Bolts then added two more in the second stanza and another in the third to complete the final tally, with Mathieu Joseph, Kevin Hancock, Taylor Raddysh, Alexey Lipanov, Brett Howden and Boris Katchouk all finding the twine for Tampa Bay.” Full highlights can be found on NHL.com [NHL dot com]

The Game

Can Jonathan Drouin handle the pressure of Montreal? Ryan Dixon of Sportsnet tries to answer that question by looking into Drouin’s path toward becoming an impact NHLer. “My opinion remains the same on Jonathan: You’re getting a guy who one day will lead your team to a championship.” – Halifax Mooseheads GM Cam Russell. [Sportsnet]

Greg Wyshynski writes about some of the great things hockey organizations have done in the face of Hurricane Irma… And some of the controversial things others have done, as well. “Hello to people unhappy that the US women’s team is ‘stuck.’ They are as ‘stuck’ as the rest of Tampa citizens who don’t have private jets.” – Achariya Rezak (Hey, I know you! [Puck Daddy]

Reigning back-to-back Stanley Cup Champion, Kris Letang, has reportedly been cleared to participate in Pittsburgh Penguins training camp. This is huge news for a Pens blueline that was hurting severely during the back-end of last season.

Rest in peace Mr. Pilote 🙁
