Declan Farmer scored a last-minute game-tying goal for Team USA in the gold medal game to send the US and Canada to overtime. No big deal.

In overtime… You already know what happened. 😉

“Farmer had 11 goals and 16 points during the tournament.

The bilateral amputee at birth who began playing the game at age 8, Farmer joined the national team at age 14 after developing his game in the Tampa Bay Lightning’s sled hockey program. A graduate of Berkley Prep, Farmer is a sophomore majoring in economics at Princeton University.”

The Prospects

Olivier Archambault deserves to be included in the Lightning organization’s long-term plans. [Raw Charge]

Since signing with Syracuse, Archambault has seen a bit of a reassurance of his scoring abilities in the AHL. In 18 games with the Crunch, Archambault has totaled 6 goals and 5 assists. He has continued to give head coach Ben Groulx a reason to play him, finding space on the ice even with the recent return of Gabriel Dumont and Matthew Peca. He has been put into games over regular roster players like Alex Gallant.

In a perfect example of foreshadowing, Olivier Archambault scored twice — including a crucial goal in the third period — to lead the Syracuse Crunch to a 5-2 victory over the Laval Rocket. [Auburn Citizen]

“It was a big turning point either way. You score and you’re up three, and if don’t score, the other team is getting some momentum,” Crunch defenseman Mat Bodie said. “Huge goal. Good job by (Archambault) to create his own space and find a way to put it past their goalie.”

The Bolts

The Tampa Bay Lightning got out-played all night in a 3-0 loss to the Boston Bruins. Ugh. [Raw Charge]

“Turnovers, in all three zones, continue to be a problem for the Lightning. It’s one thing to turn it over while fighting for the puck. You’re not gonna win them all. However, the blind passes, stupid passes, and the objectively “WTF” passes were all on display this evening. Tampa Bay essentially opened their bakery and gave the Bruins free turnovers as a gesture of good faith.”

ICYMI: Louis Domingue was recalled by the Lightning prior to the game against the Bruins. It appears the team will carry three goalies for the rest of the season. NHL teams are allowed four “emergency” call-ups — the 23-man roster can become a 27-man roster — after the Trade Deadline and the Lightning have used two with Anthony Cirelli and Louis Domingue. Anthony Cirelli didn’t think he would be staying in the NHL very long when he was called up as an injury replacement for Nikita Kucherov, but he’s here and doesn’t appear to be going anywhere. [Tampa Bay Times]

“When rookie F Anthony Cirelli got called up March 1 in Dallas, he didn’t know what to expect. He’s played in all six games since the callup, holding his own with five points and a plus-two rating. He’s getting shifts on the penalty kill.

Cirelli said the nerves have wore off, and he’s getting more comfortable each game. “It feels a little more normal,” he said.”
