Quick Strikes: The aftermath of Tampa Bay Lightning’s free agency frenzy

The Bolts

Yesterday, we gave our first tentative look at the new lineup, post-free-agency day. “With all of the additions, there are still a few questions of where everyone slots in, both up front and on the back end. The one place where there aren’t any questions are in goal as Andrei Vasilevskiy is the unquestioned starter with Budaj as his back-up in net.” [Raw Charge]

Here are all the moves in an easy-to-read list. [Lightning Shout]

Lightning shift focus to signing Tyler Johnson, Ondrej Palat: “It’s hard to make long-term commitments,” Tampa Bay general manager Steve Yzerman said Saturday. “We can only do that with so many players. We’ve done that with a few of our guys. And we’re looking at contracts for Palat and Johnson, and not too far away is [right wing Nikita Kucherov] and after him is [goalie Andrei Vasilevskiy].” [NHL.com]

Chris Kunitz on leaving Pittsburgh: ‘There will be so much to miss’: “Although the Penguins apparently did not express much interest in retaining Kunitz, forcing him to look for work elsewhere, leaving Pittsburgh will be anything but easy for Chris, his wife Maureen and their three children.” [Post Gazette]

Alex Gallant signs with Lightning: “The 24-year-old old son of Mike (Pinky) and Patricia Gallant of Summerside signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Tampa Bay Lightning of the National Hockey League on Saturday.” [Journal Pioneer]

Ryan Callahan believes hip issue ‘completely behind me’: “I feel great, no limitations at all,” Callahan told the Times Saturday. “I think this is going to be the hungriest I’ve ever been, excited, ready to go, come in and make an impact.” [Tampa Bay Times]

And then there’s this.

Steven Stamkos gets married in Toronto: “Porzio has been a fixture at Lightning charitable functions through the years, and the couple even showed their philanthropic side at their nuptials. In lieu of gifts, the couple requested donations to Ronald McDonald House Charities both in Tampa and Toronto.” [NHL.com]

The Crunch

Here’s a beautiful photo gallery farewell to Kristers Gudlevskis from Lightning Shout.

Watch for our own farewell slightly later today.

No, YOUR office is dusty. 🙁

McPhee On Gusev: “That’s At Least A Year Away.” “Speaking to media on Saturday, however, McPhee said that we shouldn’t expect the 24-year-old forward to wear a Golden Knights uniform this season.” [NHL.com]

Canadiens make Carey Price NHL’s highest-paid goalie: “I never thought about playing anywhere else,” said Price, who spoke to reporters from his summer home in Kelowna, B.C. “It’s a great place for me. I never thought about putting on another uniform. I just thought it would be too weird, I guess.” [NHL.com]
