Quick Strikes: The Tampa Bay Lightning continue their dominance everywhere

The Bolts

The (former) first line of Vladislav Namestnikov – Stamkos – Kucherov ranked as one of the best in the league by The Hockey News. The Lightning trio is among some pretty elite company on that list. Just kidding, they ARE the elite company. [The Hockey News]

“Add it all together and, of the lines on this list, no trio has been on the ice for more even-strength goals than Kucherov, Stamkos and Namestnikov, who have been a part of 20 for the Lightning. They’re a game-breaking trio.”

The one weak spot Tampa Bay Lightning fans thought they might have to worry about was goaltending. With Andrei Vasilevskiy, that is very much not the case anymore. [Tampa Bay Times]

“I’ve been saying, I thought he was going to be the top goalie in the league in a year or two – but he is right now,” said Kucherov, the NHL’s leading goal scorer. “I feel if you can score on Vasy you can score on any goalie in the league.”

The Game

Things have not been going well for the Ottawa Senators.

Les Canadiennes of the CWHL made a blockbuster trade yesterday, acquiring elite defender Erin Ambrose from the Toronto Furies. The cost was two first-round picks, and two third round picks. Big haul for the rebuilding Furies, if you ask me. [Habs Eyes on the Prize]

Now is it better than this? Tough to say. One was a whole team, the other is opponents, which adds a whole new level of difficulty.
