“Optimus Reim” was his nickname in recent years from Toronto Maple Leaf fans who rallied around young goalie James Reimer. Reimer was a bright spo but never quite good enough for Leafs management. Rumors often swirled that Toronto was seeking to acquire another goalie.
I don’t want to give a full history lesson on Toronto and Reimer, you’d best look elsewhere to find coverage of that. But with a contientious relationship between himself and head coach Randy Carlyle, it appears James has had enough. Nick Kypreos (who erroneously reported on Spezza to Tampa Bay recently) reported via Twitter that Reimer has asked to be traded.
