The Syracuse Crunch have hired assistant coach AJ MacLean and goaltending coach Maxime Vaillancourt to join Joel Bouchard behind the bench.
MacLean is the son of former NHL coach Paul MacLean and worked with the Toronto Marlies for eight years until being let go this summer after following Sheldon Keefe and Kyle Dubas from the OHL Soo Greyhounds.
Vaillancourt was most recently the goaltending coach and video coach for the QMJHL Blainville-Boisbriand Armada for six seasons. He also coached Jack Thompson at a Team Canada U17 summer tournament.
It was also announced that goaltending & video coach Joe Palmer will not be returning to the team.
Daniel Jacob is also listed on the team directory as an assistant coach on the Crunch after previously working with the San Diego Gulls two seasons ago.
Our little center has grown up! Tyler Johnson is engaged! Congratulations to him and his fiancee Megan!
Chris Krenn did a Q&A about the Lightning’s summer that you can read about below.
An odd story that developed yesterday. Alex Galchenyuk had his contract terminated after signing with the Coyotes on July 1st. It was later reported that it was due to a car-ltercation with private property and all the surrounding bells and whistles. This is hardly the worst reason for someone to get fired, and I hope Galchenyuk lands on his feet. Nothing has been said as to how this situation happened.
The Vegas Golden Knights hired some assistant coaches, Dominique Ducharme and Joel Ward, to work with head coach Bruce Cassidy.
Have a happy Friday!
