Tampa Bay Lightning prospect Libor Hajek traded to the Regina Pats

After returning to the WHL after helping the Czech Republic finish in fourth place at the World Junior Championships, Tampa Bay Lightning prospect Libor Hajek was traded from the Saskatoon Blades to the Regina Pats.

Hajek was one of the top defenders at the World Juniors, scoring one goal and seven assists for eight points, and was a top offensive defender for the Blades, scoring eight goals and 17 assists for 25 points in 33 games. Hajek was also serving as an alternate captain for the Blades the past two seasons.

Joining the Regina Pats, Hajek is now guaranteed to play in the 100th Memorial Cup tournament this May in Regina as the host team is automatically entered into the tournament regardless of season finish. The Pats need help from Hajek as they are currently sitting in the second Eastern Conference wild card spot, and are 10 points back from a divisional playoff spot.

In exchange for Hajek, the Pats sent players Dawson Davidson (undrafted), Tristen Robbins (2019 draft), and a 2019 first round pick.

Hajek should make his Pats debut Wednesday night against the Edmonton Oil Kings.
