Quick Strikes: An international back-to-back to bring on the weekend!

The Bolts

Given the inconsistent play of the Tampa Bay Lightning this season, there was an air of skepticism heading into yesterday’s match up against the surprisingly strong Buffalo Sabres. Well, after yesterday’s game where we saw the Lightning play arguably their most complete game of the season, it looks like they might be back to their old selves.

The Bolts went with a new-look top line of Tyler Johnson, Brayden Point and Nikita Kucherov to start the game, and this line came through huge for the Lightning early. Linus Ullmark was fantastic for Buffalo, but even he couldn’t stem the tide for the Sabres, who lost their fourth straight game.

Victor Hedman looking quite dapper and representing the team and his home country!

Continuing with Hedman, the towering Swede had quite the experience with the crowd roaring when he was announced during pregame.

The Prospects

The Syracuse Crunch honored military veterans last night, and as a veteran myself this was pretty awesome to see!

The Crunch also invited 90-year old Koren War veteran Lenny Graf to be the honorary captain for the evening!

The Game

The NHL announced the next installments for the NHL Global series for next season. The Boston Bruins will take on the Nashville Predators in the Czech Republic to open next season. Boston will also take part in the Global Series Challenge against the Alder Mannheim before the season starts, and Nashville will face SC Bern. Additionally, the Columbus Blue Jackets and Colorado Avalanche will face each other in Finland.

An interesting development happened this week as the NHLPA, Kyle Palmieri, and Scott Wilson are suing the city of Pittsburgh over a 3% jock-tax to non-resident sports stars.

There hasn’t been a whole lot of talk about how the NWHL has performed on the streaming platform Twitch, but they have done very well for themselves. Support women’s hockey, folks!

The USF Bulls had their Hockey Fights Cancer game last night as they took on the Florida Gulf Coast University Eagles. The Bulls ended up winning the game 5-4 as well!
