Tampa Bay Lightning re-recall Joel Vermin from Syracuse Crunch

The Tampa Bay Lightning and general manager Steve Yzerman have announced the recall of Joel Vermin from the Syracuse Crunch. Vermin was re-assigned to Syracuse on Tuesday morning. His reassignment started the speculation that one of the Lightning’s injured forwards was ready to return to the line up. Steven Stamkos’ situation has been upgraded to “day-to-day” but has been ruled out for tomorrow night’s game against the Detroit Red Wings.

Never mind!

This is Vermin’s fourth recall of the season. He has played in 15 games for the Lightning with three assists while averaging 11:06 time on ice. Vermin has yet to record his first career NHL goal and has four assists overall in 21 games the past two seasons with the Lightning. He has 12 goals and 28 points in 43 games for the Syracuse Crunch this season.

In recent games, Vermin has been skating on the Lightning’s third line with Adam Erne. He was initially centered by Byron Froese followed by Yanni Gourde after Vladislav Namestnikov returned to the line up. Vermin is an unrestricted free agent this summer.
