The Tampa Bay Lightning have taken care of their own house this past week, shoring up Tyler Johnson, who was re-signed on Monday, and Ondrej Palat, who was re-signed earlier today. They can now turn their attention to the two remaining RFA’s left in the organization: forwards Michael Bournival and Tye McGinn.
Bournival has been re-signed first to a one-year, two-way contract. He will earn $650,000 in the NHL. What he will earn in the AHL has not yet been released.

Bournival played in 19 games with the Lightning this past season after being acquired last summer from the Montreal organization. He had 2 goals and 1 assist. He played in 38 regular season games with the Syracuse Crunch and was 14th on the team in points with 9 goals and 10 assists. He played in all 22 of the Crunch’s post-season games and netted 8 goals and 7 assists. He briefly had some injury trouble throughout the season, but overall had a great comeback from a concussion he suffered prior to signing with the Lightning.
Bournival was a large part of the veteran core in Syracuse when he was with the Crunch, and played a pivotal role on the team during their run to the Calder Cup final. Bournival will more than likely start the year with Syracuse, helping to guide what is projected to be a fairly young roster. Bournival has 108 total games of NHL experience between the Lightning and the Canadiens, so he will also be one of the first in line for a call up when one is needed.
