Tampa Bay Lightning recall Joel Vermin

News has broken that the Tampa Bay Lightning has recalled forward Joel Vermin from the Syracuse Crunch. Vermin joins Crunch players Mike Blunden, Jonathan Marchessault, and Matt Taormina, all of whom are still on recall to the Lightning.

It was originally thought that the Lightning would wait until after Syracuse’s home game tonight to call up someone, but apparently they felt the recall couldn’t wait. Vermin is currently second on the Crunch in scoring with 3 goals and 7 assists. He will be making his NHL debut if he plays tomorrow night against the Rangers.

This past summer, Vermin clocked in at #24 on our Top 25 Under 25 list. At the time, his versatility and conditioning (he only missed on AHL game last season) was praised as something that could lead to a call up this season. However, it was also said that Vermin needed to make a splash during this third and final year of his entry-level contract and really show Tampa what he can do in order to stay in the organization. This is certainly a great chance for Vermin to do just that.
