Lightning Round: Andrei Vasilevskiy has a new mask celebrating the Bolts Cup win

Andrei Vasilevskiy is a Stanley Cup Champion with the Tampa Bay Lightning and he’s making that known to everyone with his new mask for the 2020-21 NHL season. Announced on his day with the Cup, Vasy showed off a new mask featuring himself hoisting the Cup, his patented lightning bolt stripes, palm trees, and a lion on top.

The mask was a gift to Vasilevskiy from his mask designer, Sylvie Marsolais, of SylaBrush. [NHL dot com]

The helmet was an apparent gift from Marsolais to Vasilevskiy, and the Lightning goalie probably won’t wear the mask during the 2020-21 season. Who could blame him? “Thank you guys for an amazing gift!” Vasilevskiy posted on Instagram. “How cool is that.”

The NHL Network also held a fan vote for the top 10 goalies in the NHL. Vasilevskiy hit number one, fresh off a couple Vezina-calibre seasons and four playoff series wins this summer. Fans still seem to think Carey Price is good, which, ok. Ditto with Marc-Andre Fleury. I’m surprised to see Tuukka Rask on the list since it seems everyone thinks he is a good a good goaltender except Bruins fans.

The Lightning Foundation is working with Florida Blue to run a food drive this Tuesday and Wednesday to help fight against food insecurity as we enter the holiday season. It’s been a hard year for us all, and a little goes a long way.

Mini Stanley Cup? Why don’t I have seven of these already?
