Tampa Bay Lightning recall defenseman Radko Gudas, demote Brendan Mikkelson and trade Kyle Wilson

In a trio of moves that have taken place this afternoon, the Lightning have made changes to both the Syracuse Crunch and the Lightning roster.

Defenseman Brendan Mikkelson cleared waivers at noon today and was optioned by the club to the Crunch. Mikkelson has repeatedly been the odd-man out on an under-performing defense and has sat the majority of the season. He had played a two week conditioning stint in Syracuse, ending last week… During that span, the Crunch were undefeated.

While the Crunch gained a veteran defenseman, they lost another. Hard hitting Czech Radko Gudas, 22, was recalled by the club this afternoon. Gudas is a +32 and known for both his beard and his pummeling checks. Gudas will wear #75 with the Lightning.

Lastly, Syracuse center Kyle Wilson was traded from the organization to Anaheim in exchange for AHL forward Dan Sexton. Sexton is both an NHL and Syracuse Crunch veteran, having played 88 games at the NHL level with the Anaheim Ducks, scoring 33 points (13 goals, 19 assists); he played 92 games in Syracuse between 2010 and 2012.The 25 year old right wing scored 5 goals and 11 assists with the Norfolk Admirals this season

As for Kyle Wilson, acquired in the summer of 2012 with goaltender Anders Lindback, he played 22 games with the Crunch this season and recorded 5 goals. He’s a minus-5. He’ll be an unrestricted free agent after the season while Sexton will be a restricted free agent.
