Valtteri Filppula popped in a rebound past Islanders goaltender Thomas Greiss to bring the Lightning to within one goal at 17:28 of the third period. The assists went to Alex Killorn and Jason Garrison as the Bolts put on a big push to stage some late-game heroics.
Though their efforts ultimately fell short, they certainly got some momentum out of it that they may be able to carry over into Game 2.
