That’s a wrap!

-In the absence of Crunch captain Mike Angelidis, who is done for the season after suffering an injury (I cringe every time I write that still), the Crunch appears to have unofficially named their three alternate captains for the rest of the season (barring injuries or call ups, of course): Luke Witkowski, Jeff Tambellini, and Matt Taormina.

-Goalie Kristers Gudlevskis got his first back-to-back start since the middle of February Saturday and Sunday. He was victorious in both games.

-The Crunch scored six times Sunday night. The only other time that’s happened this season was March 6th versus Springfield.

-Multiple Crunch players had multi-point games this past weekend:

  • Taormina had two points Friday (1g, 1a). The defenseman has now set a new career high in goals, and is three points away from beating his career high in points.
  • Ryan Martindale scored two goals and had an assist on Syracuse’s third goal on Saturday.
  • Tambellini had a goal and an assist Saturday. He repeated that performance Sunday (1g, 1a).
  • Anthony DeAngelo had three assists Sunday.
  • Tanner Richard had a three-point game Sunday (1g, 2a)
  • Yanni Gourde had three points Sunday (2g, 1a).
  • Jonathan Drouin scored twice Sunday, putting his AHL total for this season at 7 goals and two assists in 9 games.

Other transactions, player, and organizational news:

-The Crunch are again participating in a Change for Change initiative this season, and are hoping to raise even more than last season with an extended campaign. Change for Change is an initiative created by Crunch Captain Mike Angelidis and his teammates that aims to raise money for pediatric cancer research at Upstate Golisano Children’s Hospital and help improve the odds for children with cancer. All TampaCuse fans can help out bydonating through their Go Fund Me page.

-To support their Change for Change efforts, the Crunch will have a post-game skate this Saturday after Syracuse’s home game versus Rochester. Fans can pay $10 to skate with the team. Skates will not be provided, so fans must bring their own.
