Yzerman, Stamkos, Boucher in Hockey News 100 People of Power

The January 17th issue of The Hockey News features the magazine’s annual “100 People of Power and Influence” list, and a number of Lightning members made the list.

Highest was GM Steve Yzerman at #10 on the list. “After assembling Canada’a 2010 Olympic team, Yzerman, 45, became the hottest GM candidate on the market,” writes Alan Adams. “Tampa Bay instantly gained credibility by hiring him.”

Lightning center Steven Stamkos appears at #37, and head coach Guy Boucher is #73: “Look for him to win the Jack Adams Award if the Lightning keep going strong.”

Other people with Lightning ties after the jump.

Also appearing on the list is former Bolt Gary Roberts at #54, for his work with Stamkos and other young players. And while he did not appear on the 100 list, former Lightning netminder Kevin Weekes is listed in the accompanying “Top 40 Under 40” list, for being hockey’s first black national TV analyst with CBC’s Hockey Night in Canada.

While it cannot be confirmed, we assume the Raw Charge staff filled out the 101-106 spots on the main list.

There is also a one-page write-up by Ken Campbell in the same issue on the Mighty Martin St-Louis, and how he’s quietly having a terrific season. “Mr. Warrior,” is how coach Guy Boucher describes the veteran winger in the article.
