91 Days of Stamkos: Day 19, A Visit to Stammer’s Office

Many can argue that Steven Stamkos is one of the best one-timer shooters in the NHL. The Great 8 himself, Alex Ovechkin, is the only true challenger to Stamkos’ ability to rifle a one-timer from the left wing circle into the back of the net.

In fact, the ice at Amalie Arena should have “Stammer’s Office” inside of that circle. He can do it from the top of the circle, from the faceoff dot, from the bottom of the circle, and as we’ve seen a few times, even from below the end line. He’ll even do it while falling down.

There’s a reason that Stamkos is always that last player on the one-timer portion of the skills relay at the All-Star Game. Few players can match his accuracy with the puck even from such a tough angle. What Ovechkin often does with power and volume of shots, Stamkos does with pinpoint accuracy.

In his career, Stamkos has scored 111 out of his 321 career goals on the power play. I would bet that at least two-thirds of those goals have come from one-timers from his office. It has become his signature finishing move. Many players will try to imitate him, but few can master the skill he has perfected.

So with that… how about some videos? Everyone likes videos right? Well, here’s a selection of videos of Stamkos hard at work in his office.

Now, to go buy some paint.
