It’s that time in this experiment where we check in and see what kind of progress Steven Stamkos is making in his injury rehab. Let’s check the regular sources and…nothing. How about Twitter…..nope, nothing there.
So at this point, no news is good news.
There was a public Stamkos sighting last week as he walked without crutches to the ice to give a short speech about his friend and mentor. There was a slight hitch in his walk, but nothing too troubling. He is also growing perhaps the fullest beard of his career.
With the team on a long road trip, don’t expect any news anytime soon (cue mental image of Stamkos working out alone in a darkened Amalie Arena while all his teammates are having fun at Disneyland). update as of 1/23/17 it appears Stamkos is actually with the team on the road trip
Hopefully there will be an update as the calendar turns to February. With an estimated March return date, Stamkos could come back in time to help the Lightning make a playoff push.
