As injuries mount, Lightning recall Blair Jones

The one downside to the massive attack from the Boucher system, is the banged-up status of the Lightning forwards.

Though he’s playing, Vinny busted up his knuckle last week and missed time. Simon Gagne will continue to miss games with his neck injury that has already had him miss a pair of games.

Dominic Moore, who is the archtype of Guy Boucher’s system, is injured too and he and Gagne are doubtful for tomorrow night versus Pittsburgh. Throw in a banged-up defense where Brett Clark and Matt Smaby are hurting (and Mattias Ohlund remains out with a knee injury), and the Lightning’s overstocked roster is down enough men to warrant a call for reinforcements.

That being the case, the Bolts called up Blair Jones from the Norfolk Admirals to spend time with the team. Jones, who has 4 goals and 6 assists in 7 games for the Ads, had impressed during training camp before being demoted to the Ads.

To make room, Gagne was placed on Injured Reserve retroactive to October 21st.  He’ll be eligible to return on Saturday in Phoenix against the Coyotes.
