Bolts in the Pipeline: The Soo Greyhounds take the bus home

Meanwhile the Otters, Petes, and Sea Dogs move on.

The CHL playoffs are still underway, and a few Bolts prospects remain standing.

The Erie Otters survived their series against the London Knights. Goalie Tyler Parsons was trying to win the entire series himself, it seems. In game one the Otters outshot the Knights 46-12, but London won 2-0. To bookend the series, the Otters took over 60+ shots on net, but Parsons let in just five. A lot of goals, but it’s the same ratio as allowing 2 on 20 shots, no one would shame any goalie in that game.

The Soo Greyhounds and London Knights are eliminated, so we say good bye until next year to Mitchell Stephens and Boris Katchouk.

As always check out our comrades at Bolt Prospects for daily coverage.

The Erie Otters will now advance to the Western Conference Finals for the fourth time in four years. Only once have they made it to the OHL Finals, and that was 2015 when they lost to the Oshawa Generals.

The Otters face off with the Owen Sound Attack starting Friday, the team that eliminated Bolts prospect Boris Katchouk and the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds.

The Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds always try to be the best, but always fall just short. Is it the OHL’s playoff format, making it harder to succeed in the western conference? Are the Geyhounds the OHL’s Washington Capitals? Something gets in their way each year and yet again, they won’t play for the OHL title. Boris Katchouk can return to the OHL next year if he isn’t signed to a pro deal.

The favourites to win the QMJHL title will play the Chicoutimi Sagueens in the semi-finals. The Sagueens knocked off the defending QMJHL Champion Rouyn-Noranda Huskies in seven games in the quarters, and will have the confidence of giant killers in their heads. The Sea Dogs look to build off of sweeping the Foreurs and if they do, it will be an all maritimes QMJHL final, as Charlottetown, PEI and Acadie-Bathurst, NB play in the other semi-final series.
