2013 NHL Draft pick Jonathan Drouin signs his entry-level contract with the Lightning

The Tampa Bay Lightning announced they’ve signed their third overall selection from the 2013 NHL Draft, left wing Jonathan Drouin, to a three year entry level contract.

The 18-year old forward is coming off a successful season with the Halifax Mooseheads of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. Drouin had 105 points (41 goals and 64 assists) last season. He led the team in goals, assists, and points. He also ranked first on the team with a shocking plus-48 rating in the regular season.

Drouin has skated in 82 QJMHL games, all with the Mooseheads. With Halifax, he netted 48 goals and 86 assists in his two season QJMHL career.

The five-foot-eleven forward had a successful performance in the QMJHL and CHL playoffs last season as he helped Halifax win the Memorial Cup, netting 12 goals and 23 assists in 17 games. In the championship game against the Portland Winterhawks, Drouin had a whopping five assists. He was named the QMJHL Most Valuable Player in the playoffs.

With a Memorial Cup, Drouin was also named the Canadian Major Junior Player of the Year and QMJHL MVP.

Jonathan will be participating in the Lightning’s Developmental Camp the next few days in Brandon. Events are open to the public.
