The Lightning scored early, but the Bruins scored often as six different Boston skaters found the back of the net in their 7-3 win. Nikita Kucherov’s three-point effort wasn’t nearly enough as the Lightning go 1-2 on their short road trip. Linus Ullmark picked up the win with 23 saves while Andrei Vasilevskiy stopped 20 of 26.

  • The Lightning went with an 11/7 rotation and started two rookies (Jack Thompson and Emil Lilleberg) on defense.
  • Thompson played 11:39 and was credited with one shot while Lilleberg played 11:48 and blocked a shot.
  • Tampa Bay was down to 10 forwards when Tanner Jeannot left the game early after taking a hit behind the Boston net.
  • Brayden Point opened the scoring just 21 seconds into the game as he took the feed from Kucherov behind the net and beat Ullmark for his 18th goal of the season.
  • The Bruins scored twice before the end of the period with Trent Frederic scoring on the power play and Charlie McAvoy at even strength.
  • Frederic scored his second of the night early in the second to make it 3-1.
  • Nikita Kucherov picked up his second point of the night when he scored his 28th goal of the season at the 7:53 mark, but David Pastrnak answered 30 seconds later to make it 4-2.
  • Brayden Point finished off a beautiful passing play from Kucherov to make it 4-3 at the 15:53 mark. That would be the closest the Bolts would get.
  • Boston scored three times in the third period with Morgan Geekie getting his 8th of the year just 1:35 into the final frame. Jake DeBrusk added an empty netter at 16:34 and Charlie Coyle finished it off with a breakaway at 17:14.
  • The Lightning went 0-for-4 on the power play while the Bruins were 1-for-4.
